*Los escritores y sus historias*

“Desde la BDS Library” — dice Silvina, la bibliotecaria- “estamos contentos por la participación de los alumnos de Primary, en el Programa Leatón. Es por esto que este mes queremos acercarles algunos sitios de autores de literatura infantil, como una manera de que los padres y los chicos puedan explorar juntos la vida y obra de quienes tantas veces nos acompañan con sus historias. ”

La idea es conocer nuevos títulos de autores de renombre, o bien descubrir autores nuevos. Bucear algunos aspectos de su vida y de la gestación de su obra puede ser un disparador para seguir leyendo, recreando y ¿por qué no? creando también nuestras propias historias. Así, las tardes de otoño, la hora de dormir o cualquier otro buen momento en familia puede ser un momento mágico de lectura e intimidad compartida.

Muchos de los libros publicados por estos escritores forman parte de la colección de BDS Library. Recuerden que en ese caso pueden localizarlos en el catálogo onlinee inclusive efectuar una reserva virtual, para luego llevarlos a casa, en préstamo. Y, en inglés o en castellano, ¡felices cuentos para todos!

Dr. Seuss
The Cat in the Hat celebrated 50th Birthday! Brightly animated and highly interactive, Seussville entertains children as they complete word puzzles, matching games, and other activities based on the books of Dr. Seuss. Kids can also write a story and bring it to life with fanciful characters, music, and scenery.

Shel Silverstein
The site is fun. Kids can write endings to his poems, take a quiz, learn elements of poetry and download a drawing and activity book. Parents and teachers can learn a few things as well.

Devoted to national and international picture book art, this museum site emphasizes ways of combining visual and virtual literacy. The virtual tour provides great visuals, which could be a springboard for language or visual arts projects.

The World Factbook 2007 –
The Central Intelligence Agency’s annual World Fact Book provides a reliable resource for information on independent states, dependencies, areas of special sovereignty, uninhabitable regions, and oceans. Each entry typically includes concise physical and demographic statistics, an economic overview, as well as communications, transportation, and military information.

WDI – World Development Indicators 2006 – World Bank
The publication is the World Bank’s premier annual compilation of data about development. The 2006 WDI includes more than 900 indicators in over 80 tables organized in 6 sections: World View, People, Environment, Economy, States and Markets, and Global Links.

WEO – World Economic Outlook 2006 – International Monetary Fund
