El mes pasado, en el marco de la Jornada sobre “Tecnología, cultura y educación“, la bibliotecaria, Silvina Sala, se refirió a los contenidos en la era digital. En esa línea, este mes nos ofrece el acceso a algunas colecciones de e-books — la mayoría, en inglés- que corresponden, en su mayoría, a grandes clásicos de distintas disciplinas.
Para completar de manera virtual nuestra propia biblioteca y consultar aquellos títulos de ayer y de siempre, vaya esta “colección online“, una buena alternativa para leer cosas buenas durante las vacaciones de invierno.
Alex – Infomotions Inc. A full text indexed collection of classic American and English literature as well as Western philosophy, written or translated into English.
Bartleby – The full text of many classic literary works, including Shakespeare.
Internet Public Library – 45000+ full text works, fiction and non-fiction plus online reference works. Divided into subject collections for easy browsing but also fully searchable.
NetLibrary free titles – Over 3,000 out of copyright works, including Shakespeare, and classic works of literature and philosophy.
Oxford Text Archive – The archive holds several thousand electronic texts and linguistics corpora, in a variety of languages. Includes online versions of works by individual authors, standard reference works and a range of language corpora.
Project Gutenberg – A fully searchable collection of 18000+ multilanguage eBooks. Many classic titles and other formats such as audio books. It has a fully searchable online catalogue.
University of California Press – Select editions from UCP’s Scholarship Editions are available to the public. These include books on art, science, history, music, religion and fiction.
eServer.org – University of Washington -From the University of Washington. Collections include not just English, but also art, architecture, drama, fiction, poetry, history, political theory, cultural studies, philosophy, women’s studies and music (HTML).
HarperCollins Browse Inside – HarperCollins has a special feature on their website called “Browse Inside,” an application allowing visitors to sample whole books from the list of HarperCollins titles online using a special flash display. Click on the Browse Inside link to access content. Over 500 titles in the general section and similar number in the children’s section.
