Presentation of Cambridge Certificates

This ceremony is the end of a process that for some started in May 2008 and that has since involved work, study, sitting the exam, waiting for the results and now the presentation of the certificates. This celebration reflects the effort not only of the candidate but also the teachers involved in the process. For some, good grades were always expected, while others have done very well in achieving lower grades.
Cambridge examinations are for all students and reflect their proper levels. These levels cross national borders and even pass from one continent to another. Cambridge examinations are taken worldwide and offer a benchmark of quality and reliability. Cambridge school examinations have been offered for more than 200 years and the first such examinations were taken in BDS as early as 1917.

Why do we offer them? Our own National bilingual curriculum is very good but an international curriculum/examinations complement this by developing skills and the thinking processes to differentiate information -not just to memorize. The development of these skills and thinking are highly important in the preparation for university life, both here and abroad.

Articulate young people with 2 or 3 may be 4 languages; able to think on his/her feet, who can manage difficult concepts, have impeccable social skills and work well in a team (not only as leaders) offers an individual a strong CV and great potential anywhere in the world. Success does not come by chance but through hard work, determination and passion.

As Nelson Mandela says ‘Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.  There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel unsecure around you.  We are all meant to shine, as children do’.

Seguidamente, el Vice Director General, Lic. Federico Johansen, y la Rectora, Lic.
