(Español) Nueva edición de ESSARP Model United Nations (EMUN)
“On June 26th and 27th, ESSARP will be organizing a new Model United Nations Conference at St. Alban’s College, in Lomas de Zamora. The topic of the Conference is “Development and Sustainability”. Eighteen students from S6, S5 and S4 will be participating in the different forums. The issues to be debated in each forum are the following:
In the GA1 – International Security and Disarmament: establishing protocols concerning the militarisation of the Arctic and increasing transparency in the trade of armaments to and within regions of conflict.
In the GA3 – Social, Humanitarian and Cultural: Improving the living conditions of asylum seekers and implementing measures to eradicate the practice of female genital mutilation.
In the GA4 – Special Political and Decolonisation: Establishing protocols regarding the exploitation of natural resources in LEDCs, and reducing the effects of atomic radiation.
SC – Security Council: The question of Iraq and the situation in Central African Republic (CAR).
ECOSOC – Economic and Social Council: Establishing measures to combat the corruption related to Foreign Aid distribution in LEDCs and mitigating the growing income gap and its resulting effects on the standard of living.
Environment Commission: Measures to combat light pollution and measures to ensure corporate environmental responsibility.
Human Rights Council: Ethical and social implications of new and emerging technologies and the increasing number of unaccompanied immigrant children.
Our students will be delegates of the following countries:
Australia: Candela Kalaidjian, Martina Freire, Malena Fronza, Sofia Terán, Lucas Reynoso, Ana Velástegui y Merecedes Mariño.
Iraq: Camila Quintana, Daniela Riggio, Ana Cruz y Pilar Di Salvo.
Syria: Federico Rojas, Andrea Erbetti, Michael Page y Valentina Cappa.
World Health Organization: Julieta Perelman, Luz Mautner y Milagros Huang.
While S5 & 6 students are experienced participants, it will be the first time for S4’s. We wish them all good luck and hope they will enjoy and make the most of this invaluable experience”.
