It is a pleasure to inform you that the S6H student, Lucas Gold, has been selected to comprise the THIMUN (The Hague International Model United Nations) Argentine delegation to travel to The Hague next January 2014.

As you may remember, the school participated in the ESSARP Model UN that took place in August this year, at Michael Ham Memorial College. Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the UN agenda. The participants role play as diplomats representing a country in a simulated session of an organ or committee of the UN. Participants have to research a country, investigate international issues and then develop solutions to world problems.

THIMUN has invited the Argentine delegation to take part in their international Model in the Netherlands for the first time. The selection process consisted of the following steps:

  • Design of the criteria for the selection of applicants which was sent to all schools as reference.
  • Students were observed throughout the EMUN (ESSARP Model United Nations) Conference and all coaches had the opportunity of identifying prospective candidates who gave good performances during the event.
  • Each school proposed two applicants.
  • All applicants were interviewed by the two THIMUN coaches and the ESSARP Academic Director following the criteria designed.

The selection panel expressed that the candidates proposed by the schools came to the interview well prepared, full of enthusiasm and with a genuine desire to contribute personally to the Argentine delegation.

We congratulate Lucas, who will be representing BDS and ESSARP in The Hague.
