Stanley grew up in Seattle, USA, got his BA degree at the University of Washington, and now lives in Argentina with his wife and young child. He teaches English and History at St Michael´s College, Adrogué, and is particularly interested in debating modern issues and concerns, focusing on what is currently in the news, as well as on matters that might particularly interest our students.
The aim of the BDS Debate Club is to encourage students to speak up for themselves in an atmosphere of respect and friendly support. It will foster many abilities, such as fluency, critical thinking, constructing an argument, persuading an audience, defending an opinion, and above all, the ability to listen. We believe that these abilities will not only help students in their academic work, but more importantly give them life-long resources. It also promises to be stimulating and good fun.
