Round Square Conference: Switzerland Update (Wednesday 12 Oct)
The conference started as usual with a 10 minute moment of meditation. Following on we had the pleasure of listening to Ben Saunders. Ben is best known for leading the first ever return journey to the South Pole on foot via Shackleton and Scott's route in 2013–14, for skiing solo to the North Pole in 2004, and for blogging live from his expeditions. He is the third in history and the youngest by ten years to reach the North Pole alone and on foot.
His message was focused on his many journeys, how he learned from these experiences so as to then push himself further. His was an inspirational message. "I am an explorer of limits – geographically, physically and mentally. It's about pure human endeavour, and the way in which I can inspire others to explore their own personal potential..." He certainly did.
Our student delegates and Martín have now gone on a whole day adventure mountain hike...too much for this Headmaster! I will send some photos of the town of Villars from my phone. It was 5 degrees below zero when we got up!

Note: Photos 10 to 16 correspond to Wednesday afternoon's hike.
