I have taught English, history, geography, global perspectives, and individuals and societies in various curricula and frameworks, including US Common Core, IB, and the National Curriculum of England. I have used the constructivist approach, project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, student-centered learning, and various other pedagogies and teaching strategies; therefore, flexibility and adaptability are two of my main strengths.
I have visited 60+ countries and lived in nearly 10; therefore, I have not only visited the traces of history already made but also witnessed history being made, not only read literature from around the world but absorbed the locales in which they were produced, not only observed the impacts humans have on historical events and the natural environment but also participated in such moments. I bring this human and humane real-world experience to my classroom everyday.
Being an American of Asian descent who grew up working class, I can also add socioeconomic and ethnic diversity to BDS. Interdisciplinary teaching, collaborative teaching, teaching writing, teaching with differentiation, teaching creatively, teaching electives, teaching based on feedback, teaching lifelong learning are all part of a day’s work.
A student once likened me to Willy Wonka. I hope to bring that kind of spirit to BDS.
It would be an honor to join your faculty. My CV is available. Thank you for your time and consideration.
