En la era del MP3, el MP4 y los ringtones, no es novedad que la música sea una de las grandes protagonistas de las nuevas tecnologías. Como en noviembre se celebró su día (el 22) y en el BDS fue un mes a pura música, los recomendados de hoy tienen que ver con sitios divertidos donde aprender sobre este arte en castellano y en inglés. Los instrumentos musicales, grandes compositores y hasta cómo crear música. Ahí va: Museo Virtual de Instrumentos Musicales. Los instrumentos musicales aparecen ordenados alfabéticamente. La descripción de cada uno está acompañada por su imagen y un archivo sonoro, que permite aprender a reconocer cómo suena. En muchos casos, se ofrecen otras ilustraciones: páginas de códices medievales y otras obras en las que aparece el mismo instrumento. Hay instrumentos convencionales, de uso en la música culta, otros populares y otros hechos por los mismos niños, con predominio de instrumentos folklóricos de distintas culturas. Classics for Kids. Presentamos “Inincunables”, la revista digital de S5L

Oportunamente les contamos del proyecto y compartimos con los lectores de BDS News el debate en torno al formato que tendría la revista -- si impresa en papel o digital. Y bien: ganó el formato digital y, junto con él, la posibilidad que tendrán los lectores de dejar sus comentarios en nuestro blog... Se trata del proyecto-culminación de la asignatura Comunicación oral y escrita, de S5L Así lo presenta en sociedad la docente responsable , Lic. Mariela Jiménez:
Inincunables 2007 es la revista digital de S5L, un proyecto que se desarrolló en el marco de la materia Comunicación Oral y Escrita, que forma parte de la orientación en Lengua y Expresión Artística.En principio, pensábamos hacer una revista tradicional pero, analizando alternativas y observando las nuevas tendencias, finalmente optamos por el formato digital. Fundamentalmente, Inincunables 2007 es el resultado de las producciones realizadas en el segundo trimestre, en el cual las alumnas abordaron como objeto de estudio la construcción de la realidad por parte de los medios de comunicación. En este marco, vieron estrategias discursivas, recursos de edición, conceptos clave como los de contrato de lectura, target y géneros periodísticos en gráfica. Independientemente de la aplicación de estos conceptos a la práctica, lo más significativo de la experiencia fue la posibilidad de expresarse que tuvieron las chicas, de entrenarse en materia de escritura que pone en juego mucho más que reglas de sintaxis, puntuación y ortografía. Los escritos hablan de ellas, de sus maneras de ver temáticas cercanas a sus universos de referencia que hoy constituyen la agenda pública y de los medios, como el preocupante aumento del consumo de drogas y alcohol entre los jóvenes y la discriminación racial. Escribir las “obligó” a reflexionar, a reelaborar ideas, a debatir con sus compañeras y con ellas mismas. Asimismo, este proyecto tiene el valor agregado de haber sido trabajado en forma conjunta con el departamento de Informática. Con la profesora Nilda Camaño, algunas de las alumnas tuvieron a su cargo el diseño de las páginas. Inincunables 2007 es el fruto del esfuerzo de ocho adolescentes que se animaron a trabajar en equipo, en forma comprometida, aceptando desafíos y superándose a sí mismas. Desde este espacio, nos es muy grato invitarlos a "hojear" -- en rigor, a navegar- esta revista, sus distintas secciones y notas, que giran alrededor de una temática espinosa, procupante y tristemente común para los jóvenes de hoy -- la discriminación y el flagelo de las drogas. Editorial: La discriminación sigue presente en nuestro país. Si creemos que "a nosotros no nos pasa", no deberíamos dejar de leer esta nota editorial, que bucea por las aguas sutiles (y turbias) de la discriminación cotidiana. A través del Atlántico. Crónicas de un viaje. Una mirada diferente sobre la gira a Sudáfrica 2007, más allá de las competencias deportivas internacionales. Y vos, ¿sabés realmente qué es un ghetto? Para asomarse a una relidad social compleja, en la que también se manifiesta el problema de las adicciones. Los jóvenes al límite. Una nota que revela con crudeza que "el consumo ya no se oculta" y explora las distintas etapas de la adicción como enfermedad. Y finalmente una "nota de color" -- como se dice en la jerga periodística- que revela en pocas palabras la negación y confusión de un joven que consume alcohol y drogas... Un caso testigo, para reflexionar. El Staff de Inincunables -- que también tuvo a su cargo el diseño y la ilustración, toda la investigación que revela el contenido, así como el armado de las páginas en HTML, con la Prof. Nilda Caamaño- está integrado por las alumnas Catalina Huberman, Belén Dingevan, Victoria Sánchez, Paula Di Menna, Belén Vacas, Camila Pochat, Nadia Lee y Mercedes Rodrigues Lima. Felicitamos calurosamente a estas "jóvenes periodistas".

El juego es una cosa seria

*Cuenta regresiva* Hoy, lunes 5 de noviembre, faltando alrededor de un mes para que terminen las clases y padres y chicos se confronten con la anchura del tiempo libre de la gente menuda, un editorial de La Nación nos brinda una pauta para volver a pensar en el tema del juego, la actividad primaria por excelencia de los cachorros de las más variadas especies y, por supuesto, también de nuestros niños. Parece ser que jugar es una cosa bien seria, pero aún décadas después de que Piaget explicara minuciosamente las funciones cognitivas y nutricias del juego infantil, resulta necesario volver a destacar su importancia, a la luz de la constatación de que nuestros chicos juegan cada vez menos. Entre las razones de este fenómeno se encuentran la sobreexigencia transferida a los más pequeños, el facilismo escapista de la tele y el consumismo que a todos nos consume y que siempre pide más y más cosas, quitándonos muchas veces el tiempo y la energía necesarios para explorar y disfrutar de lo que tenemos. *Hambre de juegos* Desde ya, la primera desnutrición a combatir es la literal (de la que habla el otro editorial de hoy: "Los derechos humanos empiezan con el desayuno..."). Pero cuando se tiene la enorme fortuna de pertenecer a esa pequeña parte de la humanidad que no padece hambre, todavía se puede sufrir de esa otra desnutrición: la del espíritu. Y el juego libre y creativo es un antídoto eficaz contra ese mal, llave de una felicidad serena y duradera, capaz de ayudarnos a enfrentar los retos de la vida con firmeza y en calma. Efectivamente, creemos que el juego infantil es, además de un trampolín hacia todo tipo de aprendizajes, una práctica espiritual vigorosa que ayuda muchísimo a ser feliz --ni más, ni menos. Resulta muy importante que un chico "sepa aburrirse", para aprender a mirar más allá y a mirarse también a sí mismo sin aturdirse, sin escaparse, tomando contacto con su cuerpo, sus pensamientos y sentimientos, sus acciones y omisiones. Jugar es muchas veces también ponerse en la piel del otro, practicar la empatía, trascenderse. Es detener el tiempo y concentrarse íntegramente en el aquí y el ahora -- técnica eficaz contra la ansiedad que nos sacude "hacia atrás" con letanías del tipo "todo tiempo pasado fue mejor", o hacia adelante, con aterradoras proyecciones al futuro. El juego prescinde de lo superfluo y potencia el aprovechamiento de nuestros "recursos naturales" (como la imaginación) y de las cosas tal como son: basta una lona para tener un barco, un barrilete para poder volar, una botellita con un mensaje escondido para largarse a la aventura. ¡Cuánta libertad! *La otra cara de la moneda* Es verdad, el Belgrano Day School es un colegio exigente. Su proyecto pedagógico bilingüe brinda una amplia variedad de posibilidades a los alumnos, desde que son pequeños, con miras a que puedan enfrentar exitosamente los desafíos de la vida adulta. Pero también queremos que esos adultos que salgan al mundo lleven bien enraizado en su espíritu a aquel niño, a aquella niña que sabía jugar... No en vano nuestro maravilloso lema institucional -- Fac Recte, "Obra con rectitud"- ha sido también traducido alguna vez como "Play the game". A los que lo deseen, los invitamos a releer una nota publicada en esta misma sección, el verano pasado. Porque sabemos que otras vacaciones son posibles, ¿dale que nos ponemos a jugar?

Sitios de octubre: ¿Qué es eso del “patrimonio cultural”?

*Lo tuyo, lo mío, lo nuestro, lo de todos* Llamamos patrimonio cultural a aquel conjunto de bienes que nos pertenecen a todos los miembros de una sociedad, porque dan cuenta de nuestra identidad y son el sustento de nuestra memoria histórica -- hacia el pasado, en relación con lo que hemos recibido de nuestros antecesores y hacia el futuro, como legado para aquellos que nos sigan. La historia y las leyendas. La literatura, la música y las demás expresiones artísticas, con sus infinitas variantes. Edificios, calles, rincones... el paisaje de la pampa, puro horizonte, tan argentino. Y hasta un sinfín de manifestaciones anónimas, que a lo largo del tiempo han adquirido un significado especial para la sociedad en su conjunto. En fin, la lista es larga... Para conocer un poco más nuestro patrimonio cultural -- con miras, entre otras cosas, a la celebración del Día de la Tradición, el próximo 10 de noviembre- vayan los recomendados de este mes. ¿Qué es el Patrimonio?, para los chicos. Breve explicación dinámica, para comprender el significado y la importancia de conocer y valorar nuestro patrimonio cultural. Centro Virtual de Arte Argentino. Atlas de Fiestas, Celebraciones, Conmemoraciones y Rituales. Las fiestas, celebraciones, conmemoraciones y rituales de la ciudad de Buenos Aires constituyen uno de los principales referentes de la diversidad cultural en la Ciudad. Estas celebraciones son consideradas parte del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial y es por ello que este Atlas releva y difunde estas manifestaciones. Efemérides Culturales Argentinas. Sistema de Información Cultural de la Argentina. ¿Revista digital o impresa en papel?

Esa es la pregunta que se hacen las alumnas de S5L que cursan la materia Comunicación oral y escrita, a cargo de la prof. Mariela Jiménez. Luego de investigar y practicar con diferentes géneros periodísticos y aprender a definir el target, el grupo le fue dando forma a Inincunables, la revista con la que coronarán este proyecto, de alguna manera. La pauta -- como se dice en la jerga- cuenta ya con un editorial sobre el problema de la discriminación, una crónica de la reciente gira a Sudáfrica, una nota de investigación sobre el consumo de alcohol y drogas, con recuadros o "notas de color" y un colofón. En tanto, continúan trabajando por conseguir una entrevista y faltan algunas noticias breves, pero ya surgió la necesidad de preguntarse acerca del diseño y, finalmente, el soporte. Por un lado, el "formato papel" es lo tradicional; la revista se podría repartir entre los amigos y conocidos, guardarse en la mesa de luz o en la biblioteca. Se puede hojear ¡y hasta olerla! Sí. Pasa un poco lo que sucede con los libros. La relación es corporal y, por esa misma razón, se afectiviza de una manera especial. Es cierto, también se aja y se deteriora y suele terminar arrumbada o, peor aún, en la basura. Por otra parte, un formato digital -- que subiría posiblemente a este mismo sitio e inclusive podría formar parte de la sección Prometeo, que es un blog, o destacarse en Trabajos de alumnos- les permitiría incluir mucho más contenido, más fotos y, sobre todo, les brindaría la maravillosa posibilidad de explorar la interactividad. Los amigos y otros lectores podrían dejar sus comentarios y observaciones. Habría enlaces remitiendo a otros textos y enriqueciendo el conjunto, en una organización "por capas". Y, créase o no, el sitio web del BDS tiene mucha más visibilidad que lo que la tirada de cualquier revista impresa podría alcanzar... ¡Nos miran mucho, inclusive desde el exterior! Además, si de lo afectivo se trata, ellas pertenecen decididamente a la "generación T", que chatea, manda SMS todo el tiempo, usa emoticones y demás yerbas. ¿Cómo no van a encontrar en los nuevos medios la manera de expresarse, si se mueven como pez en el agua...? En fin. Las chicas -- Paula, las dos Belén, Victoria, Mercedes, Nadia, Catalina y Camila- deberán inclinarse por uno u otro camino, mientras continúan explorando el frondoso bosque de la comunicación. Sea como sea, desde aquí le damos la bienvenida a este nuevo medio del colegio. ¡Suerte, colegas!
