About University of Cambridge examinations

This goes back approximately 90 years when students initially sat for their "Cambridge Locals" at senior, preliminary and junior levels. The first such mention of these examinations is in our annual yearbook "The Evergreen" in 1916. Throughout time a variety of other examinations was taken including School Certificate, 'A' levels, 'O' levels, 'S' levels, PCE, FCE, CAE, PET, CIT and most recently IGCSE and AICE. We were one of the first schools in Argentina to adopt the new IGCSE and later AICE examinations.
In the school?s early days Cambridge qualifications were essential for those students who at the age of 10, 11, 12 or 13 went to the UK to complete their schooling. Later the higher level certificates were needed for access to UK universities while today students use their qualifications for access to UK and American universities, and through agreements with local Argentine institutions to private universities here in Argentina. On a number of occasions BDS students have been awarded prizes, given annually by CIE, at IGCSE, AICE and A/S levels for their "best results in Argentina" and in 2002 a student was awarded the Argentine Scholarship to attend Gonville and Caius College for his undergraduate studies.
(...) Belgrano Day School is committed to CIE not only as a result of our history but because our community?s recognition of CIE's ability and commitment to adapt to global needs.
