Congrats, young ambassadors & Miss Ceci Echaburu, for representing BDS so well! "Steven, Please forgive the delay in my reply. Whilst you were busy with your conference I was busy speaking at others and have only recently returned to the UK. Congratulations on a fantastic conference. I did follow you on social media whilst I was travelling and have had glowing reports from Duncan and others about how fabulous and very “Round Square” your conference was. It looks and sounds like it was a total triumph and I am sorry to have missed it. I hope you are delighted with the outcomes and are taking something of a breather (in amongst the ongoing ‘day job’ now that all is done. With all best wishes, Rachael" Rachael Westgarth CEO - Round Square

Final photo #RSRC 2017

Thank you, delegates, for a wonderful weekend for embracing the opportunity! RS Junior Conference (Hackley, NY)  Lucía Tissera (M1) reports from the Round Square Junior Conference held in Hackley School: "Day 5 was mainly about immigration, integration and pride. In the morning, we gathered in different classrooms with our baraza groups (mine was called Laurence Rockefeller) and talked about the different origins of our families; how diverse we all were, but also the various similarities we shared. Then, we traveled to Battery Park in the south of New York to go to Ellis Island. The island was one of the main places for immigrants to enter the US by ship. Currently, Ellis Island is now a museum based on the topic of immigration, but in its functioning days, immigrants entered through there between the years 1892 and 1954, and in total it received over 12 million immigrants from around the world. We did several activities in the museum, and then left to have lunch. After the Ellis Island exploration, we traveled to Chinatown to explore and have lunch. (...) Later we drove back to Hackley and listened to the speaker of the day, named Haleh Tavakol. She is an immigrant from Iran, whose family fled Iran in the 70's due to the upcoming war. She explained how she lived in the United States, away from her old home and life, and how she arrived to a welcoming country, while also explaining it was not easy to get there. She explained  many other difficulties she endured.  At the end of the day, we ate pizza with our baraza groups and made a final discussion, and then left Hackley..." The photo corresponds to the final session of RSRC held at BDS, and was taken shortly before the delegates' departure on Tuesday last.
