General Knowledge Competition: the Finals

(English)

The final instance of the 2012 General Knowledge Competition organized by the English and the Humanities Departments for Middle School students will take place on October 31st, at 8:30 in the auditorim (students are expected at 8:25). All Middle School students and teachers are kindly invited to join in.

Cambridge Conference, sobre el tema «Liderazgo»

Una oportunidad muy especial de intercambio con directivos y docentes de lugares del mundo tan diversos entre sí como Alemania, Nigeria, Holanda, Bosnia, Dinamarca o Malasia, por nombrar solo algunos.

(English) Thomas Hardy at BDS

HARDY AND TWITTER GO HAND IN HAND

S5 students have been working on Thomas Hardy´s poetry. As personal responses students have to twiit their opinions on the poet´s work. These twitts are excellent examples of thesis statements for literary essays in only 140 characters. Their work has been illustrated by Tomás Bréard-Anderson in a marvellous drawing showing Hardy writing inspired by Emma, his dead wife. Nicolás Rainuzzo, nuestro nuevo «embajador»

nico En la versión en inglés de esta entrada, la Coordinadora del Departamento correspondiente en Middle & Senior, Gladys Lesmi Dallas, destaca el valor del esfuerzo realizado por Nicolás, quien ha sido seleccionado como integrante titular del Equipo Nacional de Debate que representará a la Argentina en la competencia Mundial de Turquía 2013. Asimismo agradece a su entrenadora, Sonia Figueroa, y a todos los docentes que apoyan el desarrollo del Debating Club y la participación de los alumnos, que a veces deben retirarse de alguna clase para poder participar de las competencias intercolegiales. ¡Felicitaciones, Nico!

(English) Nicolás Rainuzzo pre selected for the Debating National Team

(English) As previously announced, Nicolás Rainuzzo (S6S) has been pre selected to represent Argentina in the Debating Championship 2013. Students are selected as a result of their performance as debaters along the annual local competition. The World’s Schools Debating Championship 2013 will take place in Antalya, Turkey, between January 27th and February 6th, 2013. A team of five members will be selected plus two reserves. Nicolás has to attend a selection session at St. Catherine’s Moorlands School, sede Belgrano,  on September 7th from 3pm to 6 pm. He will have to:
  • Prepare a case and debate a motion from the WSDC
  •  answer a general knowledge quiz
  • give an impromtu speech
